This is total BS. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but what a waste of time and resources. It sounds like that officer coerced her into offering extras too. She should get a good lawyer and fight this. This SONIC division or whatever they are, sound like a bunch of idiots. These types of busts are all political and ego-driven. What a waste.
I really liked that place. She was always friendly and good to me whenever I stopped in. It's too bad her little massage parlor created such a dangerous element and presence in the precious community of Novi.
I agree with you hiroller about understanding the girls being reluctant in this LE crackdown atmosphere lately. Also, it is good to practice discretion as far as giving out info to members who PM you that don't have an established posting history. On all the various sites. I've gotten requests for info lately, from members who just joined and have zero activity on the site.
Btw, it says that SONIC is a Narcotics consortium. Either they were totally wasting their time busting a massage parlor, or else there is a lot of info regarding drugs that are completely missing from this article. I really doubt that this parlor had any drug activity going on. In Novi? Give me a break.
It could be that these "tips" that they are referring to, where men have claimed to receive sexual acts after a massage, are actually not voluntarily offered to the police. Perhaps the officers are trolling sites like this and gathering info from reviews and private messages to members. However, I don't recall Recovery Spa being listed on this site.
Anyway, it's a sad state of affairs when Law enforcement is spending so much time on these little massage parlors. Pretty soon they'll be throwing around the ambiguous and overused "human trafficking" label as an excuse to bust local places too, I'm sure.
I wouldn't worry too much about new members. Most likely they are just that, newbies. Police don't need to message members randomly if they want to dig up dirt on a parlor. It's not that hard for them to find it. No reason a cop can't buy a membership at this site, just like we do. Or establish credibility over time.
I know how the Recovery Spa bust happened. A lady complained on the Troy Police department Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Troy-Police-Department-Troy
You can see her post there and the cop who responds to it. The lady was going to visit there and Googled it and was shocked when she found out it was an EMP, from websites like this one.
It would be very easy for police to discover info like this on other parlors in the area, but it was most likely the citizen complaint that triggered the investigation. So I'd guess it's more important for us to conceal information from "innocent" people like Ms. Butts-Akmon because if cops want to get info on a place they'll get it. My $.02
