Downtown massage parlour shut, 11 arrested

Anyone thinking of swinging by Toronto Health Spa today will have to change their plans.
The "Massage" sign that usually glows red over Yonge and Gerrard Sts. is not glowing today.
This, after Toronto Police vice unit officers and members of the city's municipal licensing and standards carried out a search warrant at the establishment that sits above Elephant & Castle early yesterday evening.
Alleging the spa was operating as a bawdy house, cops and city inspectors arrested 11 people on numerous criminal and by-law charges, a police press release said this morning.
All of the accused were released from custody at the scene with future court dates. No further information was released.
Services offered by the spa are advertised through various means, such as tosluts.com, the Canadian Escort Guide and the erotic services section of Craigslist, which is often used as a portal for prostitution and human trafficking.
On hotfrog.ca, the spa is described as "the number one Erotic massage located in the heart of downtown."
"Our luxury spa features 6 VIP rooms with jacuzzi's [sic], hot showers, candle lit [sic] rooms and beautiful attendants to cater to you [sic] needs," the ad says. "Come and enjoy a very memorable experience at Toronto Health Spa."
In a review posted on sp411.com, one customer writes:
"All available girls come in one by one and introduce themselves. That reminded me of European style brothels. This was great because I got to pick and chose [sic] based on my taste.
"All the girls were very attractive and most of them dressed like strippers, even down to the clear plastic shoes," the review states, before describing the massage. "She began with a massage on my back and then I turned over. She proceeded to massage the front and give me a happy ending."
The leading to the second-floor spa states business hours as Monday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. At 10 a.m. today, the door remained locked.
